Adele is making her highly anticipated return to music with her “One Night Only” special prime-time concert from Los Angeles Sunday night on CBS. “It will look really elegant, and then I’ll tell a load of filthy jokes, a sort of whiplash for ‘em,” Adele says.

It’s the first time fans are hearing new music from the British singer in six years, as she debuts songs from her new album “30” set for release on November 19th.

Adele will also break out some of her chart-topping fan favorites and sit down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about her songs and the stories behind them, as well as her personal life, including life after divorce, weight loss, and raising her son. “Why was this an interview I was interested in? Because I’m always interested in people who are willing to speak their truth. She actually is the truth,” says Winfrey.

The truth is Adele sells. According to Chris Willman with Variety Magazine, her new album is a guaranteed blockbuster. “Notably, she’s someone who will still sell physical product in an era where seemingly almost everybody is a streaming monster. She can still sell CDs and vinyl,” Willman says.

Willman also says Adele’s fans are drawn to her strong vocals and sense of transparency and vulnerability in her tracks. “I think the fact that she’s strong and projects, you know, a certain woundedness in her songs is something everybody can relate to,” he says.

With her first performance in a long time, Adele appears poised to pick up right where she left off.
