2 dogs found dead, stuffed in trash bags

Two beloved dogs were found dead after being stuffed inside trash bags. They were found just days after their owner sent desperate pleas for their safe return via Facebook.

The woman who found the dogs said she had to break it to the family that these, indeed, were their dogs. That experience was heartbreaking for her. Now, that woman is hoping that whoever is responsible for this can will come forward.

Olivia Bunn says she saw vultures point to something. “I had seen a bunch of vultures flying in the air,” said Bunn.

She says those vultures were pointing to something no one should ever have to see. “There is also still some leftover fur from the dogs,” Bunn said.

Two dogs were killed and tossed out like trash along East Terry Street near Bonita Grand Drive in Bonita Springs. “I don’t understand how somebody even has the audacity to do that,” said Bunn.

Bunn says she was able to connect the dogs back to their owner via a public Facebook group. Their owner told Lee County deputies he posted there that his dogs were missing.

“The dogs I identified were shepherds with two bright orange collars on them, and the one picture on Facebook, there was a bright orange collar,” Bunn said.

Bunn then called her boss, Amanda Cassese. “She said, ‘I found two shepherds out here in trash bags,’ and you know my heart sank,” Cassese said.

Amanda searched Facebook and found the owner of the dogs. “Absolutely heart-wrenching. I hated having to post saying, hey, we just found these two dogs that were deceased in trash bags,” said Cassese.

The owner showed up and was able to identify his two beloved pets. “His reaction definitely I think he was in shock because how do you… how do you take that phone call? That’s such a hard phone call and even believing that those were your dogs,” said Cassese.

However, these two women are happy that they were able to bring a little closure to this family. But, they hope whoever is responsible for this is brought to justice.

“How do you not have the conscience? How does that not beat you up at night? How do you go to bed sleeping at night?” said Bunn.
