City of Palms Classic The six-day Culligan City of Palms Basketball Tournament tips off at 2 p.m. Friday, December 17 at Suncoast Arena located on the campus of Florida Southwestern State College. This year 16 teams will be competing in the Traditional Tournament, four teams competing in the Signature Series, and four teams competing in the Sunshine Series. The traditional Culligan City of Palms Basketball Tournament has teams coming from as far away as Toronto, Ontario Canada, Louisiana, Arkansas, Washington D.C, New Jersey, Kentucky and North Carolina to name a few. Seven players ranked in ESPN’s Top 10 in the nation are competing in this year’s tournament. Culligan City of Palms Basketball Tournament will also host star athlete Arch Manning of the prolific Manning sports family and the Isidore Newman School Basketball team out of New Orleans, Louisiana. These are a few of the 49 student-athletes competing in the tournament who already committed to Division I NCAA universities. The Sunshine Series welcomes Florida-based teams for a fun tournament experience. The Signature Series is comprised of teams that are not affiliated with state athletic associations and gives them another opportunity to play competitive teams in a unique destination. New this year, Culligan City of Palms Classic Basketball Tournament will be broadcasting live through a strategic partnership with Varsity Sports Network (VSN), the leading source for high school athletics throughout Florida. The 2021 Culligan City of Palms Classic Basketball Tournment includes multiple special events for the community to enjoy. On opening day, Culligan City of Palms Classic Basketball Tournament is recognizing local First Responders and Health Heroes with a Lee County Commission Resolution to make December 17 Lee County First Responders and Health Heroes Day. Nearly 300 First Responders and Health Heroes are attending with the help of local sponsors Brad Dohack of GulfpointeProperties, Kelly Fayer of Kelly Fayer, PA and Josh Dorcey of Dorcey Law Firm. Tickets to attend to the First Responders and Local Heroes Tournament Opening Day are $22 per person. Sunday, December 19 offers tournament games and the Bahama Breeze 45 Second Challenge, the North Law Firm Three-Point Shootout and the Edison Bank Slam Dunk Contest. Tournament Games start at 12 p.m. and the special events start at 6:10 p.m. Tickets for just the special events are $7 per person available at the box office starting at 6 p.m. Culligan City of Palms Classic Basketball Tournament concludes Wednesday, December 21 with the Championship Game tipping off at 8:15 p.m. This tournament is projecting high attendance.
