A body was found in Charlotte County on Wednesday. (CREDIT: Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office) Authorities are investigating after a body was found near the Maria Manor community in Charlotte County on Wednesday morning. The man has since been identified as James M. Gunter, 59. Crews completing yard work inside the community, at 4158 Tamiami Trail, noticed a smell. They walked around the area where they discovered the body just behind the community entrance wall. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said Gunter was known to be homeless in the area, adding, “At this time, we are awaiting autopsy results to confirm the cause of death.”
