COVID-19 pop-up testing site closes after Code Enforcement visit in Fort Myers

A visit from Fort Myers Code Enforcement led to the closure of a pop-up COVID-19 site in Fort Myers.

The site advertised free PCR tests.

The Code Enforcement investigator told WINK News the site shut down because it was operating without a business tax receipt.

They ordered the operation down until they can provide one.

The site is not associated with the Florida Department of Health.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the site will not deliver accurate results. The lab the site claims to use is federally approved.

The couple that runs the site came to the U.S. eight months ago from Colombia.

They said they were sought out by a manager at the testing company that hired them “SNT Biotech” to come to America and work in populations with a heavy concentration of Spanish speakers in the community.

The couples have patients check in with a QR code that takes them to a website called Clarcs.org, that’s the lab the government has approved.
