A community is remembering a 15-year-old hit and killed in the dark on his way to school.

The parents of Keoni, a Port Charlotte high school student, said he was the one riding his bike on Murdock Circle early Tuesday morning before a deadly crash.

Now neighbors are rallying around the family.

Keoni’s parents, Mistyblu and Jason Goodapple, describe him as loved by everyone.

“He was just amazing,” Mistyblu said. “He was beautiful.”

Keoni was a student at Port Charlotte High School.

His parents said they can’t believe he is gone.

“He would want to run around and hug everyone as a kid,” Jason said. “People would say you already hugged me, get off of me. He was just so happy, always wanted to please people. He was a very good kid.”

Mistyblu is a student at Jersey College. Her classmates have already raised more than $11,000 to help with sudden expenses.

“Have a ton of people that came through and dropped off food, I don’t even have space for food to put anything,” Jason said. “That loving kid that everybody knows that he was very outgoing and he wasn’t shy; he wasn’t scared of anything he was just an amazing person.”

Keoni’s classmates and friends plan to hold a memorial tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at Port Charlotte Mall.
