Port Charlotte man killed in crash with SUV in Englewood East

A Port Charlotte man was killed in a crash with an SUV on South McCall Road in Englewood East on Thursday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 56-year-old man was driving his car east on South McCall Road around 8:15 p.m. when he entered the paved median break to make a left turn. An SUV driven by a 28-year-old woman from Rotonda West (carrying four passengers, three of them children) was traveling west on South McCall Road in the left lane when the car turned left in front of it.

The SUV T-boned the car and the car’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the SUV suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
