Isolated storms Thursday, along with severe weather threat

All eyes are on the next cold front set to pass through Southwest Florida Thursday night.

Ahead of the front, look for a warm, humid and windy day for Thursday. Highs will climb back into the upper 80s to lower and mid-90s by the afternoon, with the humidity leading to a heat index between 94 to 99 degrees.

By Thursday evening, we’ll start to see a broken line of rain and storms move through the area. This will start in our northern counties between 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weaken as it moves southward into Thursday night.

Hence, the better chance for any of these storms to become strong or severe exists north of the Caloosahatchee River, where a Level 1 and 2 out of 5 risk exists.

The highest threats Thursday will be gusty winds and hail.

Rainfall amounts won’t amount to much, with the heaviest forecast amounts of only a quarter of an inch of rain focused north.

The rain will come to an end overnight, leaving us dry and less humid for Friday and the weekend!

Look for cooler weather to return, too, with highs back into the upper 70s and low to mid-80s Friday through Saturday. We’ll also get to enjoy some cooler mornings in the 50s both Sunday and Monday morning.
