The Mighty Mussels are back at Hammond Stadium.

Fans filled their seats for the teams’ first home game of the regular season. The Mighty Mussels took on the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno was on hand to throw out the first pitch and get the crowd going.

WINK News reporter Marcello Cuadra caught up with the managing partner for the Mighty Mussels, John Martin, right before the game started. So, how’d he feel about opening day?

“Technically, I’ve been waiting for this day my entire life. But it’s so much fun. We’ve got a great product on the field. We come back from Clearwater with the muscles at three and oh and undefeated. So great product on the field,” Martin said.

The Mighty Mussels have some exciting things planned for fans this week, including Carole Baskin making an appearance on Friday.

The Mussels also won their home opener over the Hammerheads 6-5. The game went to 10 innings.
