Red Flag Warnings issued as dry, breezy weather returns Tuesday

Behind a weak cold front that passed through Southwest Florida late Monday afternoon into Monday night, we’ll get to enjoy a drop in humidity for Tuesday.

Unfortunately, while we will feel more comfortable, the low relative humidity coupled with wind gusts of up to and over 20 mph will lead to heightened fire danger. This has prompted the National Weather Service to issue Red Flag Warnings for DeSoto, Charlotte, Lee and Highlands counties.

A Red Flag Warning means outdoor burning should be avoided, as any fires that do develop would likely spread rapidly.

Despite the cold front, we will still be just as warm Tuesday as Monday, with highs in the low 90s for most.

Dry, breezy weather will continue through at least Thursday.

By Friday, as humidity begins to increase, we’ll welcome a chance for some rain and storms. We’ll maintain at least a chance for additional opportunities for rain into the weekend and early next week.
