Juvenile arrested after telling firefighters he started Lehigh Acres brush fires

A juvenile suspect was arrested on Sunday after firefighters say he admitted to starting two early morning brush fires along 11th Street East.

The Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District mentioned this arrest in a release that also said its firefighters responded to a downed power line that sparked a fire in heavy brush near a residence on East 14th Street and a fire that started in a vacant lot next to a residence on Albert Avenue, both of which were contained before any damage to homes occurred.

All of Lee County remains under an active burn ban and current weather conditions can cause a small fire to grow and spread quickly. LAFCRD encourages parents to have conversations with their kids about fire safety and to use caution during outside activities that cause sparks.
