A former recycling plant worker was arrested on Wednesday after authorities say he stole thousands after finding a checkbook in the recyclables at this workplace.
Kendrick Williamceau, of Collier County, faces a charge of grand theft between $5,000 to $10,000 and fraud, according to jail records.
The victim contacted authorities on April 14 after noticing $9,000 had been cashed from an account he rarely uses, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. The checks had been thrown into a recycling bin during a recent home renovation.
Authorities said Williamceau was a recycling picker working on the conveyor belt line at a local recycling facility and he came across the checkbook and kept it for himself.
He is no longer employed at the recycling plant.
