NFM student arrested for bringing knife to school, posting threatening video

A 9th-grade North Fort Myers High School student was arrested Tuesday by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office after being accused of bringing a knife to school and posting a threatening video on social media.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, a school resource officer searched the student’s bag and found a knife and pepper spray. She was then arrested and later released from the Juvenile Assessment Center.

The following day a student alerted North Fort Myers High School administration of a social media video allegedly showing the girl threatening to stab other students with a knife.

Detectives say they were notified and established probable cause to arrest the girl at her home for posting the video.

“This student’s behavior and complete disregard for the safety of other students is unacceptable,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “I am disturbed to learn she continued to threaten other students even after she was arrested the day before for bringing a weapon on campus.”

She faces a charge of Making a Written Threat and has been transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
