The Atlantic hurricane season is right around the corner, and the Red Cross is asking for the public to step up and help.

The organization wants more volunteers to help with disaster relief during the upcoming hurricane season.

“Volunteers are at the heart of our mission, representing 90% of our workforce and responding on a near-constant basis to provide safe shelter, food and comfort after disasters across the country,” said Josett Valdez, CEO of the Red Cross South Florida Region in a press release.

If you want to volunteer, there are several different ways you can help. The Red Cross says it is looking for volunteers to help at shelters, provide healthcare and provide direct assistance on the ground in a disaster area.
