The future is unknown at the intersection of Fowler Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Fort Myers.

The former News-Press building stands in the southwest corner of the intersection.

Fort Myers City Council voted earlier this `week to start taking proposals from developers who want to buy the site.

It building was supposed to be turned into the new city police headquarters. An idea that has fallen apart.

Now, a developer will have almost endless possibilities.

Before the city moves forward we take a look back, walking through the empty 170,000 square foot building with Gulfshore Business reporter David Dorsey, who spent the first 25 years of his career there, starting as an intern in 1993.

The City of Fort Myers will stop accepting proposals for The News-Press site on July 1 and hope to finalize a deal in the next few months.
