(CREDIT: WINK News) Florida Highway Patrol has released more information about their investigation into the death of a 19-year-old pedestrian who was hit and killed by a Collier County Sheriff’s deputy on Sunday. FHP says that the deputy’s cruiser did not have its emergency equipment activated when it hit 19-year-old Jacob Moreno on Santa Barbara Boulevard just south of Hunter Boulevard in Golden Gate. Florida Highway Patrol previously stated that the emergency equipment was activated. Troopers say a 33-year-old Collier County Sheriff’s deputy was traveling northbound when Moreno stepped in front of her cruiser and was hit. The deputy involved in the crash is on paid administrative leave during the investigation, which is standard procedure for involvement in a deadly crash.
