Lee Health’s Milk Depot is seeing an increased need for breast milk donations amid the ongoing baby formula shortage.

The hospital’s Milk Depot provides the milk to babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, premature babies, and older babies who can’t tolerate formula or have special dietary needs.

Lee Health has two drop-off locations for mothers who are eligible to donate. One is located in Fort Myers at the HealthPark Medical Center Lactation Services. The other is at the Family Birth Suites at Cape Coral Hospital.

To be a milk donor, Lee Health says you need to be in good health, a non-smoker, and not regularly take medication.

To apply, you can call the Mother’s Milk Bank of Florida at 407-248-5050.
