Fort Myers Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened in a downtown Fort Myers parking lot on Second Street around 2 a.m.

Police said there were non-life-threatening injuries reported.

Benjamin Howe works at Blu Sushi and Jennalin Radcliffe works at Cabos Cantina two restaurants downtown.

They were both working last night. They didn’t see the shooting but said it scares them to know it happened so close to where they work.

“There’s always a lot of people downtown on the weekend so it’s definitely kind of scary. Especially a concentrated area like over there. You got clubs, cigar shops, bars, and food, everything’s going on. There’s always a lot of people here so that’s pretty scary,” Radcliffe and Howe said.

Raymond Aulen, Owner of The 86 Room said the problem is a lack of police presence.

“You need a guy down there on the ground, or some guys, you know, at least a couple guys on the ground, during these certain, you know, nights during certain times of the night, especially around closing time, if you don’t have it, you know, I mean, it’s scary, when you just don’t see the police around, because you know, that things are gonna escalate, something’s gonna happen,” Aulen said.
