Midterm primary election county commissioner winners

Lee County Commissioner

Mike Greenwell, the former baseball all-star, has won the Republican nomination for Lee Commission District 5.

Greenwell will face Lehigh Acres resident Matt Wood (D) in the Nov. general election.

He was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis in July after Commissioner Frank Mann died on June 21.

Greenwell won the nomination with 69% of the vote. And pleased with the results, Greenwell decided to stay home and take it easy to celebrate his dominating win.

“You have to realize what it takes to get things done. I’m just one of those people,” Greenwell said. “When I set my mind to something to it, I’m gonna work hard and do whatever it takes. I’m looking forward to continuing being a county commissioner it was a great honor”

Collier County Commissioner

Chris Hall has won the Republican nomination for Collier Commissioner District 2.

He will face Bebe Kanter in the Collier County District 2 General Election in Nov.

Hall won the nomination with 50% of the overall vote.

“People want the right to choose what’s right for them,” Hall said. “They don’t want the government telling them what’s right and what’s wrong. That’s the reason I ran. That’s the platform I ran and the people have spoken loudly.”

Daniel Kowal won the Republican nomination for Collier County Commission District 4.

He will face a write-in candidate in November for the District 4 seat.

Kowal won the nomination with 42% of the vote.

“I felt we were starting to lose that locally over the last two decades,” Kowal said. “People were more in it for whatever reason, but it wasn’t for the right reasons. And that’s why I jumped into the race.”
