Michelle Ashley Jury selection is set to begin Monday for the trial of a woman accused of killing a Marine Corps veteran. In October 2019, Fort Myers police arrested a Cape Coral woman for the 1997 murder of a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who was killed at a Fort Myers motel after a grand jury indictment. Michelle Ashley, 45, faces one count of First-Degree Murder with a Firearm charge. Ashley will appear before a judge for the first time on Wednesday. The victim, 27-year-old Keith Jones, was shot to death on June 19, 1997, at the former Tides Motel, which was in downtown Fort Myers. Jones was a veteran of the Marine Corps and a recent graduate of the Law Enforcement Academy.
