Above-average heat Tuesday ahead of isolated storms

High temperatures will mainly reach the 90s under partly cloudy skies. Our humidity is still notably high, placing our “feels like” temperatures into the upper 90s and triple digits during peak heating. Boaters will be met with great water conditions, given they can dodge Tuesday’s storms. One- to 2-foot Gulf wave heights are forecast, with a light chop within our bays.

Isolated storms are back in the forecast for Southwest Florida. After a humid and rain-free morning, a few showers and weak storms will form after lunchtime. These will become slightly stronger in the evening. A few may be capable of producing gusty winds, isolated flooding, and lightning. Severe weather is not expected with these storms. Rain chances will remain in the forecast through Thursday before a cold front dries us out by Friday.

The Weather Authority is tracking only one disturbance in the Atlantic at this time. It is in the far Southwest Gulf of Mexico and has a medium (40%) chance of cyclone formation within the next five days. It still appears that this system will likely remain in the Western Gulf of Mexico regardless of formation. The next name on our 2022 Storm Naming List would be Karl.
