A couple whose home was devastated by Hurricane Ian got a bit of help from a group of kids on the other side of the world.

Lori and Andy Sievert lost everything in Hurricane Ian, even the belongings of their son who passed from cancer when he was just 9-years-old.

After the hurricane, they slept on a sofa inside the home that flooded for two weeks. That is until Andy’s co-workers helped them get the RV.

Even though Lori and Andy are locals, their story traveled internationally to a few kids who baked cupcakes.

“We have a friend and a co-worker who has a sister in Amsterdam, they heard about the news,” the couple said. “So they called her and asked if there’s anybody they could help out here. Our name was given to him. So they had this big bake sale in Amsterdam.”

The kid’s bake sale raised $850 for Lori and Andy. They told WINK News they’re going to use the money to start making repairs on their home.
