Lee County schools announce more school openings

The School District of Lee County has announced more schools that are ready to reopen to students this week. They say all 80 PreK-12 schools will return to learning by Friday.

The district updated its list to include more schools that will be opening on Friday:

  • Pine Island Elementary
  • Diplomat Middle School – Using the Florida Virtual School platform
  • Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School
  • Hector Cafferata Elementary
  • Gulf Middle School
  • Lexington Middle School – Using the Florida Virtual School platform
  • Skyline Elementary

K-2 students from Hector A. Cafferata, Jr. Elementary will be hosted at Hancock Creek Elementary, and 3-5 students will be hosted at Pelican Elementary.

On Wednesday, the following schools will reopen:

  • The Alva School
  • Bayshore Elementary
  • Bonita Springs High School
  • Caloosa Elementary
  • Cape Elementary
  • Cape Coral High
  • Challenger Middle
  • Cypress Lake Middle
  • Dunbar Community School
  • Dunbar High
  • East Lee County High
  • Edgewood Elementary
  • Estero High School
  • Fort Myers High
  • Fort Myers Technical College
  • G. Weaver Hipps Elementary
  • Gateway Elementary
  • Gateway High School
  • Harns Marsh Elementary
  • Harns Marsh Middle
  • Island Coast High
  • Lehigh Acres Middle
  • Lehigh Elementary
  • Lehigh Senior High
  • Mariner High
  • Mariner Middle
  • Mirror Lakes Elementary
  • North Fort Myers Academy of the Arts
  • Oak Hammock Middle
  • Patriot Elementary
  • Pelican Elementary
  • Public Service Academy
  • Ray V. Pottorf Elementary
  • Rayma Page Elementary

The following schools have been cleared to reopen to students on Thursday:

  • Caloosa Middle
  • Fort Myers Beach Elementary
  • The Sanibel School
  • Heights Elementary
  • North Fort Myers High

Fort Myers Beach Elementary and The Sanibel School students will start at San Carlos Park Elementary.

Pine Island Elementary, Gulf Middle, and Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle are undergoing remediation and further air quality testing.

Lexington and Diplomat Middle will continue to hear from their principal regarding virtual learning starting late this week.
