Scattered storms Tuesday, major cooldown Wednesday

High temperatures will reach the 80s under partly cloudy skies. Our “feels like” temperatures will still stretch into the 90s in many communities thanks to the high humidity we still have situated across the region. Boaters will encounter moderate chop on the water with 1- to 2-foot Gulf wave heights.

Scattered storms are in Tuesday’s forecast. A few thunderstorms will likely form in the morning, with better rain chances holding off until after lunchtime. These storms will initially be on the weaker side, before strengthening and increasing in coverage in the late afternoon and evening. Severe weather is not expected, although a few storms may be capable of gusty winds and isolated flooding.

A powerful cold front will drop our high temperatures into the lower 70s and upper 60s on Wednesday. Cool, dry air from the north will also push away our humid air, eliminating this week’s rain chances beyond Wednesday.

There are still no named storms or disturbances in the Atlantic. No new named storms are expected to form within the next five days in the Atlantic Basin, the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean Sea.
