According to the San Carlos Park Fire District, firefighters were dispatched to the 17000 block of Knight Drive at around 12:50 a.m. for a house fire called in by a neighbor. They found smoke and flames billowing from the home, with flames visible through the roof. Crews searched the home and found two dogs who did not survive the fire. After the secondary search, it was learned that no one was home at the time of the fire. Fortunately, crews found a cat outside; it had escaped the fire through an open door.
