A 30-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after Charlotte County deputies say he planned to meet up with a juvenile girl to exchange sex for marijuana edibles, vapes and nicotine.

Raul Christopher Colon-Ocasio, of North Port, faces a sexual battery charge in addition to lewd and lascivious molestation, using a computer to seduce a child, traveling to meet a minor after using a computer and child neglect charges.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said the mother of one victim called law enforcement because her daughter kept sneaking out of the house at night. She gave authorities consent to search her daughter’s phone when they found the girl was exchanging sex acts with Colon-Ocasio for marijuana edibles.

Interviews with the girl showed she met Colon-Ocasio about a year ago and had been buying from him since.

A member of the FBI Task Force began posing as the girl and communicating with Colon-Ocasio. Deputies say he proposed to meet up to exchange sex for drugs and asked if any other juvenile friends might be interested in the same deal.

A meetup was arranged and Colon-Ocasio was arrested.

At the time, he had a young girl in his vehicle who deputies say was unharmed.

When he was arrested, he said, “My life is over, I lost everything,” before asking for a lawyer.

He is being held at the Charlotte County Jail.
