The Army Corps of Engineers Operation Blue Roof program provides homeowners impacted by Hurricane Ian a temporary solution that protects their property and allows them to remain in their homes as they continue to recover.

The program has been expanded until Nov. 1, so that’s now the last day to apply for the Blue Roof Program.

The reason for the expansion is simply because they want to give everyone in affected counties the opportunity to sign up for the free program.

As of Thursday, they have installed over 6,00 blue roofs. They told WINK News the contractors are doing almost 900 homes per day.

WINK News spoke with Colonel Brian Hallberg with the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, asking him how long it takes from the moment you apply for the blue roof until contractors are able to install it.

“For a lot of the homeowners right now, it’s been about eight days from the time they put in their application. Could be a little longer, it just depends on the production rate of the contractor and when they can get out there,” Hallberg said.

“The homeowners that I’ve talked to, they’re just very appreciative whenever they get that tarp on because now they know their home is sealed, is going to be dry,” Hallberg said. “And it’s perfect. But I have talked to some other homeowners, you know, walking the streets, doing infrastructure assessments, and it’s great to hear their stories. And overall, they’re positive, they’re rebuilding their lives. And getting back to normal.”

They also told WINK News that there are several ways that you can apply.

One way is you can apply by going on the website. Click here to be taken to the website to apply.

Another way to apply is by calling the phone number, 1-888-766-3258.

The last way to apply is through mobile R-O-E sign-up locations which you can find on their website.
