Concerns over safety regulations at the North Fort Myers shelter

Questions surrounding conditions at the shelter in North Fort Myers where hundreds of hurricane victims are staying.

People there have expressed concerns about the safety regulations of this specific shelter.

WINK News talked to a number of people at this shelter on Saturday who all said there is mold inside and the conditions are bad.

The shelter is run by the CDR. CDR’s PIO, Melanie Michael was asked for some clarification on the condition of the shelter.

On Saturday, a woman from the shelter shared a picture with WINK News of a vent covered in what she said was mold above her bed.

She also showed pictures of the ceiling inside of the shelter that has missing tiles and loose

She said there are pieces of wood next to her bed causing her to trip and it is so cramped she can barely get around.

In the photos provided by the woman living in the shelter, there are beds right below the vent.
