Police lights. A bicyclist was killed in a Monday evening hit-and-run crash on Prineville Street outside Port Charlotte. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an unknown vehicle was being driven north on Prineville Street, approaching Hineline Avenue around 6:10 p.m. A 63-year-old Port Charlotte man riding a bicycle with a trailer was heading north on Prineville Street, approaching Hineline Avenue ahead of the unknown vehicle. The vehicle rear-ended the bicyclist and drove away. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under criminal investigation by FHP, and anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call *FHP (*347) or send an anonymous tip to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-780-8477.
