Even warmer Thursday with rain chances increasing for the weekend

Expect another dry, warm January day on Thursday. Highs will run about 7 to 8 degrees above average under a mix of sun and clouds.

Most of Southwest Florida will stay dry through Friday, with just a chance for a stray shower.

Over the weekend, a front will dive south through the northern half of the Florida peninsula but stall just to the north of the WINK News viewing area. This means we will remain on the warm and humid side of it. What we will also see, however, is a return of some rain ahead of this front.

The higher chances for rain Saturday through Sunday will be for those areas north of the Caloosahatchee River since those areas will be closest to where the front stalls out. That’s where rainfall amounts of a tenth to up to half an inch of rain will be possible.

Rain chances will decrease the farther south you go.
