Published: Updated:

On Thursday morning, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects it says were involved in the attempted murder of a man on Sunday.

According to DCSO, 19-year-old Carlos Manuel Lopez and 13-year-old Jeavani Luna turned themselves in shortly before 10:30 a.m. An update will be posted on social media with statements and new information, and there is no danger to the public.

Deputies say they found someone who had been shot in the back near Southeast Hillsborough Avenue. That person was taken to the hospital, and deputies say they are still there. Deputies were able to identify the two as suspects thanks to security camera footage and witness interviews.

DCSO says it chose to release the name and photo of the 13-year-old due to the nature of the crime.

The firearm used to commit the attempted murder has not been located, and if you have any details about where the firearm could be, you can report the information to DCSO or submit a tip to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477.
