Golden Gate High School burglarized over the weekend

Collier County authorities are investigating a burglary at Golden Gate High School.

The burglary occurred on sometime over the weekend into Monday, according to an incident report from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said someone entered the school by prying open a gymnasium door and ransacked several areas, including the discipline office, the food service office, the media center, the ROTC office, the book keeper’s office and the TV production classroom.

The approximate cost in damage and theft to Collier Count Public Schools is $16,000 and likely to rise, according to the report.

The thief or thieves made away with a digital camera, two media cards, a high-end computer and an Apple TV, CCSO said.

Additionally, more than close to $8,100 in cash was stolen and another $370 in Starbucks gift cards, they said.

The suspects entered some of the rooms through unlocked windows and in other cases, by prying the doors open.

The investigation remains open, but according to the report there are three suspects in the crime.
