FHP vehicle struck in hit-and-run on I-75 in Collier County

A Florida Highway Patrol vehicle was struck in the middle of a Sunday morning traffic stop on I-75 in Collier County by a vehicle that drove away from the scene.

According to FHP, the trooper suffered minor injuries from the hit-and-run that occurred just before 2 a.m. at mile marker 102 on I-75. The trooper’s vehicle was stopped on the north paved shoulder of the road with its emergency lights activated. A dark sedan went into the paved shoulder crashing into the FHP car. After the crash, the dark sedan kept driving north on I-75.

FHP has released a photo of the suspected vehicle, thought to possibly be a blue (or at least dark in color) 2006 to 2011 Honda Civic, equipped with undercarriage neon lights, changing to the colors of blue, purple and green. It should have right front and side damage.
