A Lehigh Acres man was found guilty Thursday morning of holding a person captive at gunpoint and brandishing his weapon at another in October.

Samuel Clarence Redd Jr., 32, was found guilty of false imprisonment with a firearm and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a person 65 years of age or older after a two-day trial in Lee County.

The crime happened on Oct. 1 at a home in Lehigh Acres. Redd bound a person in the home with electrical cords and duct tape, then put them on the ground and pointed a gun at their head. He threatened them not to move, or he would shoot them. Redd also brandished the gun at a second person in the home.

After a couple of hours, the victim was cut loose, and both people left the house. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded and found Redd alone in the home. A search warrant was served, and the gun was found hidden in the hollow of a door. Duct tape and knotted-up electrical cords were found in the trash. Redd was then arrested.

Redd is scheduled to be sentenced on March 28.
