Incident prompts closure of Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity retail store

An incident at the Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity closed the retail store on Wednesday.

Not many details were released but the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said “there was a threat involving two juveniles, but the scene is now secure.”

At least seven deputy patrol vehicles were are the store at 2440 Tamiami Trail on Wednesday morning.

A Habitat for Humanity spokesperson told WINK News everyone was OK.

“We do not know all the details at this time, but our top priority is always the safety of our staff and customers. We are working on how to best address the matter for all involved,” the spokesperson said.

A sign at the front door says the store is closed for the remainder of the day. Many people have walked up to the store and left.

It’s unclear when the store will reopen.
