The Fort Myers Police Department says it has arrested a 17-year-old who shot another juvenile during a drug deal gone wrong.

According to police, the victim met the 17-year-old and another unknown male on Colonial Boulevard Sunday.

Police say the suspect and the unknown male got into the victim’s car. Once inside the vehicle, police say a rifle was pointed at the victim, and the suspects forced the victim from the vehicle.

The victim told police they were reluctant to give the suspect his belongings as he was being forced out of the vehicle. The victim was shot in the butt and fled, fearing being shot again. According to police, the victim found a bystander who called 911.

Fort Myers police were able to locate the 17-year-old suspect and arrest them on Wednesday. The teen is facing multiple felony charges, including armed carjacking.
