Two men were arrested in Charlotte County after deputies say a stolen motorcycle from North Port led to a narcotics search.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, John Anthony and Raymond Dionne, both 55, were arrested after deputies received a tip that a stolen motorcycle from North Port was parked in front of an address on Hemlock Avenue just south of Punta Gorda. CCSO and the North Port Police Department investigated.

Deputies confirmed that the motorcycle spotted in front of the address was stolen. They told Anthony and Dionne about the investigation and cleared the residence for safety. While clearing the home, deputies saw drug paraphernalia in plain view, leading to a narcotics search.

The search found live ammunition for multiple caliber firearms in Anthony’s bedroom. Additional assorted ammo was found throughout the home. Deputies checked his criminal history and found Anthony to be a convicted felon.

Deputies continued the search and found the following:

  • Oxycodone pills
  • Fentanyl
  • Cannabis
  • Crack cocaine
  • Methamphetamines
  • Multiple meth pipes
  • A crack pipe
  • Syringes
  • Scales and other drug paraphernalia

There was also evidence that Anthony had been processing fentanyl, as multiple cutting agents and a blender covered in fentanyl were also located.

The helmet and keys to the stolen motorcycle were also found inside the home.

Both Anthony and Dionne were arrested. When transported to the Charlotte County Jail, Dionne was found to be in possession of 1.5g of a substance testing positive for heroin.

Anthony faces charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (three counts), manufacture or delivery of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm ammunition or weapon by a Florida convicted felon, and possession or use of drug paraphernalia.

Dionne faces charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (four counts), possession or use of drug paraphernalia, and smuggling contraband/controlled substances in a correctional/detention facility.
