The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office was building a connection between the men and women sworn to protect the community, all while having a good time.

That was the purpose of the first Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Expo event Friday afternoon at the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall.

Families came out and got to meet deputies while getting hands-on experience with their vehicles and tools used to protect the community.

There were also games, bounce houses, and prizes, even a dunk tank where people got to dunk a deputy.

“The whole idea today is: we work for you. This is the charlotte county sheriff’s office, but we work for our community. Come out and see what it is we actually do for you. Learn about the programs available to you and all of the cool equipment that we use to keep our community safe,” said Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Chris Hall.

Hall told WINK News that a lot of work went into setting this event up, and the sheriff’s office hopes to host more of them going forward.
