74-year-old woman killed in crash on Tamiami Trail

A 74-year-old woman was killed in a Saturday afternoon crash in Collier County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at Tamiami Trail East off Barefoot Williams Road, just outside Naples Manor.

The 74-year-old woman from Lady Lake was driving in the left turn lane going south on US-41 nearing Barefoot Williams Road.

A 68-year-old man from Naples was driving in the left turn lane going north on US-41, also nearing Barefoot Williams Road.

The woman attempted to make a U-turn while the man was approaching. His sedan T-boned her on the right side.

The woman was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. Later, she was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
