A man was arrested on Sunday after deputies say they found him hiding under insulation in the attic of a North Fort Myers home.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Bruce Davis, 44, was arrested after deputies responded to reports of a residential burglary in progress on 4th Way. They were told an unknown man entered the home and never left.

When deputies entered, they heard someone walking in the attic above them and found a five-gallon bucket under an attic access along with insulation debris on the floor. They ordered the suspect to come down and utilized non-lethal gas to force the suspect from the attic.

The suspect, later identified as Davis, still refused to come down.

Deputies and a K-9 unit entered the attic and found Davis buried in the insulation with his face against the air duct system to breathe fresh air. A search of the home also revealed a broken window, appliances in use and scattered tools.

Davis faces charges of burglary and resisting an officer. He was taken to the Lee County Jail.
