Cape Coral man arrested after threatening video message with AR-style rifle

Robert Lynch IV, 25, was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office during a traffic stop after sending threatening text messages and a video while handling an AR-style rifle.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, a victim notified deputies about receiving electronic threats of violence on Friday, March 31.

The victim showed LCSO Lych’s messages and a video where he says, “Don’t let me catch you slippin’,” while handling an AR-style rifle.

“The Lee County Sheriff’s Office takes every threat seriously; real or fake. My detectives worked diligently throughout the weekend to follow leads and take this violent felon off the streets. I hope the victim can feel safe knowing this criminal is behind bars and cannot harm anyone else,” said Sheriff Carmine Marceno.

Lynch, a registered felon, has a history of drug possession. He was arrested in 2022 for possession of a weapon by a delinquent.

Lynch was arrested on Monday during a traffic stop on I-75 in Lee County.

Sheriff Marceno was at the head of the operation. While multiple units converged on the vehicle, Sheriff Marceno was at the Real Time Intelligence Center to ensure everything went smoothly.

“Multiple LCSO deputies and detectives from the tactical narcotics team, violent crimes unit, fugitive warrants unit, aviation unit, K9 unit, and FDLE worked together to safely arrest the violent offender,” Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Lynch was arrested and is facing two counts of written threats of violence and also felon in possession of a firearm.
