Deputies swarmed a quiet neighborhood when a cyber tip led them to a sex offender. Deputies arrested 71-year-old Stanley Matusiak on Hanover Court in East Naples.

Matusiak is charged with possession of child pornography.

“It was surprising,” Laura Swanson, a nearby neighbor, said.

Collier County deputies moved in and made the arrest Thursday morning after getting a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Swanson has lived in the neighborhood in East Naples for 30 years, and all the deputies caught her off guard.

“I was walking my dog, and I passed you. And I saw the wink truck, and I thought, oh, what’s going on here? And then I turned, and I saw all these cars,” Swanson said.

WINK News saw detectives walk in and out of the home, telling WINK News their job is to thoroughly look through all of his digital devices.

FGCU forensic studies professor Dr. David Thomas said they’re looking for a couple of things. The first thing is evidence against Matusiak, and the second…

“I would dare say that they’ll start looking at email addresses of where the stuff was downloaded from and backtrack, get to those locations, and see if they can make another arrest,” Dr. Thomas said.

Matusiak spent a couple of years in jail on similar charges and has lived in the East Naples neighborhood since mid-2020.

“I didn’t lock my doors and then I thought well, I better start locking my doors,” Michelle Shead a nearby neighbor said.

While neighbors are right to worry, it’s important to note he faces possession of child pornography charges. There’s no evidence he tried to have sex with any children.

Matusiak is set to face a judge on Friday. After his arrest, someone drove a car into his garage.

WINK News knocked on his door to speak with him, but nobody answered.
