Brush fires damage three homes

Firefighters returned to the scene of Saturday’s brush fires in the Morton Road and Lake Shalimar area, as well as Kent and Jefferson Roads. The smoke and flames forced evacuations and Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District told WINK News approximately three homes were damaged.

The fires also led to a road closure of parts of Interstate 75 northbound for several hours. Passing motorists shared videos with WINK News that show flames visible from the highway.

The fires burned around 30 acres.

The cause is unknown at this time, but remained under investigation.
