Immokalee man receives life sentence for killing man in 2020

A Collier County man has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of an Immokalee Man in 2020.

Collier County Circuit Judge John McGowan delivered the sentence to Gonzalo Herrera, 41, on Monday following his conviction of second-degree murder.

The incident happened on March 13, 2020, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the 1900 block of Alexander Circle. A 36-year-old man was sprawled in a parking lot with fatal gunshot wounds.

Witness statements and evidence led to Herrera as a suspect.

According to the sheriff’s office, a family dispute led to the shooting.
