A 46-year-old man on the Most Wanted List in Lee County has been arrested.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Alfonzo “Champ” Churchwell has been on the run for two years.

He was arrested on Tuesday and faces a federal probation violation based on charges of possession of a firearm, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding and filing a false police report.

Churchwell was arrested at a Lehigh Acres residence.

Churchwell was previously featured on Southwest Florida’s Crime Stoppers 10 Most Wanted and the U.S. Marshals Service had offered a $10,000 reward.

“Churchwell’s arrest is testament that time eventually expires for these fugitives and that law enforcement, and the community, is always keeping their eyes open,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Manager. “The US Marshals worked relentlessly to find Churchwell and we know that our community is now much safer that he’s behind bars.”

Anyone with information on a wanted fugitive is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
