Police arrest man after one women found dead in Golden Gate Estates

A Collier County man was arrested Wednesday night after deputies say he killed an elderly woman and severely beat an elderly man in Golden Gate Estates.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Anthony Michael Corrado was arrested and faces charges of second-degree homicide and aggravated battery on a person over 65 years of age.

Detectives say Corrado and the victims knew one another. The deceased woman had an active order for protection against Corrado, who was released from prison last year.

According to CCSO detectives, Corrado called a housekeeper to help him clean up a home on 16th Street Northeast around 2:30 p.m. When the housekeeper arrived, a blood-stained Corrado led her to a bedroom where the woman was located. Frightened, the housekeeper left the home under the pretense she needed to get cleaning supplies from her car. She drove away and flagged down a CCSO deputy in his patrol vehicle a short distance away.

Deputies arrived and found the dead woman. They found a man in another room wrapped in a blanket with severe head injuries. A medical helicopter flew him to a trauma center.

A hammer with blood on it was located on a kitchen countertop. Blood was on the walls and floors inside the home. Deputies located Corrado standing outside the residence with blood on his clothing.

WINK News spoke to a few neighbors off-camera who were shocked to see what happened so close to where they live. They said they have never seen or heard anything unusual from the home where the investigation is happening.

Following further investigation, Corrado was arrested and booked into the Collier County jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
