There was a large law enforcement presence with Lee County Sheriff’s Office vehicles surrounding an area in Alva Thursday afternoon.
Deputies and crime scene technicians processed the scene. They expanded the yellow-taped perimeter to keep people away and the back end of the dead-end street was completely blocked off.
A close family friend said a woman died at the Alva home. There were also many people on scene visibly crying.
“She had a big heart,” said Chasity, a family friend. “She was so friendly and I will miss her.”
LCSO deputies have yet to confirm if there was a death.
At least seven LCSO vehicles were at the scene.
The family was gathered outside the crime scene and is waiting to hear more information.
“She’s like family to us because we go back to when we were kids,” Chasity said.
LCSO has yet to confirm whether the hours-long investigation is in relation to a murder or shooting.
