This election season is going to be an interesting one in Lee County.

Candidates covered their booths with banners, balloons and brownies to draw voters towards them.

Voters who showed up to “Meet the Lee County Candidates” came to talk about their issues. Voters like Chris Cammarota from Cape Coral.

“It’s the stipend, Its the UEP, the utility expansion project, Jaycee park, Single-member districts. it goes on and on.” said Cammarota.

“This current council is not representing the people. They’ve got their own agenda.” said a voter named Patty.

Cape Coral councilman Dan Sheppard said he went to the Mercola market to set the record straight.

“They hear a little snip and they fill in the blanks if I can do anything positive for the city here it’s to get factual information out,” said Sheppard.

Voters in the county will have to make big decisions this election season.

It’s the first time people in Lee County will vote for a superintendent.

Lee County Commissioner Mike Greenwell is being challenged by Amanda Cochran. Cochran came to the event to meet voters and get her message out there.

Commissioner Ray Santelli is not running for reelection meaning his seat is up for grabs. David Mulicka and Matthew Thornton are vying for that spot.

Candidate by candidate people waited their turn to talk to the men and women who could soon represent them.

92.5 radios Drew Steele told WINK News reporter Claire Galt that it’s really all about the people.
