The Lee County Sheriff’s Office homeless outreach team joined social workers and other service workers from Lee County on a project to help clear a homeless encampment.

The encampment is located at South Loop Boulevard and sits on private property, so the homeowner wants the group to relocate within 24 hours.

Law enforcement, social workers, and Lee County employees went to the encampment on Wednesday not only to vacate the area but also to provide any needed help.

They conducted assessments and provided referrals for housing and shelter.

They also helped some of the homeless with behavioral health and other supportive services.

Deputies and the housing manager will return Thursday to enforce trespasses for anyone who remains on the property.
