The Cape Coral Police and Fire Department responded to a suspicious house fire that killed a man and a cat on Southwest Sixth Avenue. Law enforcement responded to the house fire at around 4 a.m. on Thursday at the neighborhood located off Skyline Boulevard and Pine Island Road. The CCPD confirmed that they are investigating a crime scene, as streaks of smoke and electrical flashes could be seen throughout the contained area. According to the CCFD, emergency service vehicles transported one person to the hospital for treatment. According to the CCPD, the man succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital. A cat was killed in the house fire. It remains unclear whether there were more injuries due to the house fire. Law enforcement ruled the fire as arson and is currently investigating the early morning blaze.
